Cleaning your Grow Room

Temperatures and weather vary widely in different parts of our country, so many people choose to have grow rooms in their homes. The climate within a grow room is easy to maintain so that healthy plants, flowers, fruits, herbs and vegetables can be grown at any time of the year wherever you are.

Cleaning your grow room may be something that you overlook, however a clean working environment is essential to healthy plants. Yellow/brown leaves left to lie around make a perfect breading ground for garden pests such as aphids, mite (including red spider mite), white flies, thrips, leaf miners and fruit flies amongst others. 

Sweep or wipe up any soil, leaves and debris that have fallen on the floor, table surfaces or on the soil in the pots. Water spills and damp areas should be wiped dry right away because excess moisture can cause plants to rot and encourages pests.

Cleaning your area is easy and once its clean its easy to maintain.

Before you start you should give your area a thorough clean.

Invest in a small hand held vacuum cleaner to pickup dirt and debris it will make the future cleanups a breeze and a whole lot easier to keep your grow area clinically clean. If you have previously had an pest infestation you may want consider using a fogger to eradicate the pests that are not visible to the human eye.

If you have been using an oil based insecticide like Bioneem or Pyrol in your grow room/tent, you will find that a sticky residue starts to build on the floor and anywhere it was sprayed.

Using a spray bottle of an extremely diluted bleach and water solution, spray the entire room. This includes walls, floors, corners, ceilings and tables. Next, using a clean rag soaked with clean water, wipe down every surface that has been sprayed with the diluted bleach and water solution.

Make sure that you air your area before replacing your plants.
