Mycoroot Supreme R 55.00 R 80.00
Premium Mycorrhizal, Mycoroot, is the home of the organic mycorrhizal fungus. Mycoroot Supreme is an organic microbial fertilizer that will help enhance root structure by doubling it in size, boosts yield, and production. What are Mycorrhizal Fungi? Mycorrhiza means “fungus root.” These are beneficial fungi found in undisturbed soils These fungi form a symbiotic, mutually beneficial relationship with 90% of all plant roots The host plant receives mineral nutrients from the fungus The fungus obtains sugars from the host plant There are several types of mycorrhizal associations The most commonly encountered are the arbuscular mycorrhizal (AM) fungi. How do they function? The fungus grows using fungal filaments called hyphae The filaments grow both inside and outside of the roots The fungus is intimately associated with the plant roots Providing a link between the soil and the plant They extend the plant rooting system improving root functions They allow for better exploitation of the soil environment They increase the surface area available for nutrient uptake They make nutrients soluble which usually are not accessible to plant roots They influence the soil environment covered by the fungal filaments Encouraging the growth of beneficial bacteria They ward off unwanted organisms which can cause plants diseases Such as eelworms and root rot They produce a biological glue That promotes soil stability and increases moisture penetration and aeration of the soil Characteristic AM fungal structures formed within the roots of a host plant. Characteristic AM fungal structures formed within the roots of a host plant. A = finely branched arbuscules formed within plant cells. V = vesicle produced by some AM fungi required for the storage of carbon compounds. IRH = intraradical hyphae grow between the root cells. These structures are only visible once the roots have been specially prepared in the Mycoroot laboratory and are visible under a high powered microscope. So what is the problem? Unfortunately, because the soil and the beneficial organisms in this environment will not be regarded as a valuable resource, disturbance, land degradation, and application of chemical inputs, particularly those containing high levels of phosphates, and the non-discriminate use of some pesticides, have resulted in depleted natural populations. So what is the solution? To maximize the benefits from these AM fungi, have the mycorrhizal status of your soil tested. How to use: Mycoroot is used during transplanting. It helps with plant growth, health, and flowering. Add 5-10ml (1-2 teaspoons) per transplant depending on the size of the plant. Sprinkle at the base of the plant's roots in the whole during transplant and this should stop the shock of transplant, also helps with the uptake of nutrients and water. Size of container: 200ml

Bioneem from R 120.00
Bioneem is used to control a wide range of insects (up to 200 insect types). The key insecticidal ingredient found in the Neem tree is Azadirachtin, a naturally occurring substance that belongs to an organic molecule class called Tetranortriterpenoids. It blocks the insects production and vital hormones, breaking their life cycle. It is structurally similar to insect hormones called ‘Ecdysones’ which control the process of metamorphosis as the insects pass from larva to pupa to adult. Metamorphosis requires the careful synchrony of many hormones and other physiological changes to be successful, and Azadirachtin is an ‘Ecdysone blocker’. Azadirachtin also serves as a feeding deterrent for some insects. Depending on the stage of life-cycle, insect death may not occur for several days. However, upon ingestion of minute quantities, insects become quiescent and stop feeding. Residual insecticidal activity is evident for up to seven days or longer, depending on insects and application rate. Azadirachtin is relatively harmless to insects that pollinate crops and trees, such as butterflies, spiders and bees; ladybugs that consume aphids; and wasps that act as a parasite on various crop pests. This is because neem products must be ingested to be effective. Thus, insects that feed on plant tissue succumb, while those that feed on nectar or other insects rarely contact significant concentrations of neem products. Neem products are recognized in organic guidelines by IFOAM. Bioneem has been found to be compatible with most commonly used fungicides, insecticides and fertilizers. Physical compatibility should first be checked out. (Read label). Bioneem is an emulsifiable concentrate. Do not apply in temperatures above 30 degrees C. Dosage rates vary between 300ml – 500ml per 100L water, depending on the growth stage of plant and insect pressure. Packaging: 250ml, 500ml and 5L

Phyta - Plant Tonic / Foliar Feed R 99.00
Phyta is a dual purpose nutrient supplying macro elements Potassium and Phosphorous as well as Zinc and Copper. The phosphorous is in the phosphite form, which is highly systemic throughout the plant. Phyta is chelated with organic acids. This formulation stimulates active healthy growth in a range of crops to maximise their resistance to a range of diseases including downy and powdery mildew, botrytis, phytopthora and pythium. Available size: 250ml Function: Phosphorous is essential to all plants for optimum yields. Base phosphatic fertilisers often fail to supply the crop with sufficient phosphorous. Factors such as soil type, soil moisture and soil pH can interrupt the supply of P to the crop, especially at critical periods during the development phase. Conventional phosphate products will be mobilised in the plant through the xylem. Omex Phyta will however translocate P through the phloem and the xylem and thereby supplying essential phosphorous to the root zone and crop canopy. Description: Fully water soluble phosphorous source. Analysis of Omex Phyta: Directions for use: The spray tank should be filled with half of the required amount of water. After shaking the container, measure the required amount of Omex Phyta and add to the tank whilst maintaining constant agitation. Add remaining water to correct dilution. Spray. Dilution: Recommended water rate is 500 – 1500 litres per hectare. Always shake the container before opening it. Observed benefits from applying Phyta: Improved plant nutrient health and diseases resistance Improved rooting action. Increased fruit set. Higher solids content. Increased yield. Post-harvest quality enhancements. Improved foliar uptake of cations (i.e. K, Ca, Mg, Mn) Potassium Phosphite and Zinc, Copper Fungicidal activity against Phytophthora, Pythium, Mildews, Brown Rot. Enhancement of the plant’s natural defence mechanisms. Recommendations for use: Fruit, Vegetables and Ornamentals: Apply 200-500mℓ / 100ℓ water. Home and Garden: 50 ml / 10 l water Tank Mixing Compatibility: Omex Phyta is compatible with most, but not all, pesticides, growth regulators and micro-nutrients with regards to physical tank mixing and biological effects on the crop. However, Omex cannot accept any liability for any loss or damage as not all pesticides have been tested and because of efficacy of any mix will depend upon, among other factors, the pesticide concerned, crop conditions, growth stage, weather, and volumes of water used. Precautions: Omex Phyta should be stored in frost free conditions with optimum storage range between 5-40˚C. Omex Phyta is a non-hazardous and non-flammable foliar fertiliser. Gloves and face shield should be worn when handling the concentrate.

Seed Starter Growing Medium R 160.00 R 160.00
Freedom Farms Seedstarter is formulated in South Africa as a premium germination medium formulated to create the ideal conditions for seed germination. The finer soil matrix, excellent aeration, seedling specific nutrient levels and inoculation with beneficial microorganisms, are the main reasons for the high success rate of the Seed starter. Ingredients: Coco Coir, Fine Vermiculite, Perlite, Volcanic Rock Dust, Bone Meal, Gypsum, Fermented probiotic bran. Volume: 15L Application: – A fine matrix specifically formulated for seed germination – Free from pathogens and weeds – Excellent for all varieties of seeds – Suitable for both inorganic and organic fertilizer amendments Directions of use: Add germination soil to seedling tray and water thoroughly the first time. Plant seeds and water again lightly for seeds to settle. After the first drying cycle, keep the soil moist. Ideal watering pH for Freedom Farms Craft Soils Ideal pH 5.5 – 6.0 Pure coconut coir has a pH between 5.8 – 6.8. A substrate/soil pH of between 5.5 and 6.5 is ideal for plant nutrient uptake under both organic and inorganic fertiliser regimes. Freedom Farms Coco coir is buffered and charged with natural amendments. The high Calcium content of our amendments maintains the pH in the 6.5-6.8 range and will prevent a decrease in pH (substrate acidification) resulting from fertiliser application or waterings at a low pH. The soil pH is therefore buffered against decreasing pH. On the other hand, an incremental increase in pH resulting from tap water (pH 7-8.5) use can cause the soil pH to increase above the optimal range for nutrient uptake. The soil pH is therefore not buffered against increasing pH caused by using un-pH’d tap water. Watering with a pH of 5.5-6.0 will ensure the pH of the soil remains in the optimal range of 5.5-6.5. About Freedom Farms: Freedom Farms Craft Soils are complete, handcrafted* living soils, formulated* for optimal plant growth and performance in South Africa. Optimising our soils for root health is fundamental in achieving this.
