Grow Guru Horticulture's Digital Electronic Ballast

Digital Electronic Ballasts – Bigger Yields!

The days of old humming, magnetic core & coil-type ballasts are soon coming to an end!

What are Digital Ballasts?

Digital Electronic ballasts are the latest in ballast innovation, they are more efficient, quieter, cooler and softer / less wearing on the bulbs. Digital ballasts do not have the usual transformers, capacitors or ignitors, instead these have electronic circuitry to do the job – more efficiently! Coil type ballasts are also known to cause the bulb to flicker or strobe. This takes place so quickly that the neither human eye nor light meter can pick it up. Digital ballasts provide a uniform power supply to the bulb, thus eliminating the flickering from the bulb. When choosing indoor grow lighting, magnetic ballasts may sound more appealing price wise.  – For a little bit more money and in the long run electronic digital ballasts offer:

Why use a digital ballast?

  • Higher Lumen Output
  • Bigger Yields
  • Savings on Electricity
  • Less Noise
  • Less Heat

Digital Ballasts generate 20% more Lumens that penetrate down 30-50% Deeper meaning up to 20-25% Yield Increase – using a Third Less Power. More lumen output per/watt producing 20-30% more light than standard magnetic core and coil ballasts ‘Soft Start’ no ‘spiking’ very low start up current and running current, making them extremely power efficient. No more blown contacts! Reaches full brightness in approximately 2 minutes (apposed to 20 minutes) Fully compatible with both MH and HPS lamps.

Our dimmable function knob allows you to adjust the current output and for example our 600w Digital Electronic Ballast will power 250W, 400W or 600W HPS / MH lamps, giving you a whole lot of extra flexibility in your lighting install and usage.

Be sure to pair the correct lamp wattage to the output selected, don’t be tempted to run a 400W lamp at 250W for example. This will save energy, but is a pretty pointless exercise as your plants will not receive the full PAR (usable light) range. We stock 400w & 600w & 1000w Digital Ballasts – Shop Online.
