1. We already know that hydroponics is a super self sustaining model that can feed and put an end the hunger pandemic in Africa! Hydroponic gardening is offered as one of several solutions to this urgent situation and may have a positive impact on the problem. Hydroponic gardening, a type of indoor / outdoor gardening that does not rely on soil for a planting medium, also provides a solution to food production in parts of the world where food, or enough food, cannot be grown.

2. GMO Genetically Modified seeds and plants are coming into our country by a land-slide and it seems there is nothing we can do in the immediate future to prevent our intake of potentially detrimental GMO produce, besides growing and consuming our own produce.

GMO’s, or “genetically modified organisms,” are plants or animals that have been genetically engineered with DNA from bacteria, viruses or other plants and animals. These experimental combinations of genes from different species cannot occur in nature or in traditional crossbreeding.

Virtually all commercial GMO’s are engineered to withstand direct application of herbicide and/or to produce an insecticide. Despite biotech industry promises, none of the GMO traits currently on the market offer increased yield, drought tolerance, enhanced nutrition, or any other consumer benefit. Meanwhile, a growing body of evidence connects GMO’s with health problems, environmental damage and violation of farmers’ and consumers’ rights.

Most developed nations do not consider GMO’s to be safe. In more than 60 countries around the world, including Australia, Japan, and all of the countries in the European Union, there are significant restrictions or outright bans on the production and sale of GMO’s. It seems that Africa has become a GMO battleground and after many failed attempts to take on GMO seed producers, the future is now in our own hands.

3.An increasing number of people, just like us , have opted to growing their own vegetables from Heirloom Seeds – to live a healthier lifestyle, without GMO’s! We foresee that our country will soon be a Hydroponic South Africa.
