I am doing scientific research on cannabis and we can’t even get a permit from the Department of Agriculture to legally import seeds into South Africa. The South African Health Products Regulatory Authority will let us import a limited number of clones, but sees seeds as a commodity. Go figure.

I am visiting Amsterdam in October this year. What are the legalities in buying various cannabis seeds there, and bringing it back with me on the plane. What would be the chances of getting locked up once I land in South Africa again?

Attitude Seedbank only accepts payment in cryptocurrencies from overseas buyers. Is there anyone buying in South Africa and re-selling here?

Anaz - January 29, 2019

Is buying and selling seeds legal though? How can you legally trade seeds?

John - January 29, 2019

Growing is legal, but the import of seeds is not, or has that also changed? Heard of friends whose seeds got confiscated at customs and sent to SAPS.
